Free GEO page audit

The GEO audit helps you see whether OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity crawlers can find and read your page, and whether robots.txt allows Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, CCBot, and Bytespider to access it. You see a score based on 33 checks and a plan for where to start.

The audit is free. We do not need access to your site; a public link to the page is enough.

// GEO vs SEO

What GEO is and how it differs from SEO

// GEO vs SEO

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) prepares a page so AI systems can find and cite it. SEO asks “can search find you”; GEO asks “can a model understand your page and use it in an answer”. The requirements overlap, but they are not the same: a page can rank well in Google and still remain invisible to ChatGPT.

// What gets in the way

Why AI may not see your page

The bot cannot access it

robots.txt, Cloudflare, or a WAF — a web application firewall — can block GPTBot, ClaudeBot, or PerplexityBot. The page will then be unavailable for answers from those systems.

The text appears only after JavaScript runs

Most AI systems do not run scripts. If the browser loads the content later, they may see an empty page.

The content is hard to interpret

Without a clear structure, direct answers, and markup, models have more difficulty understanding the page and identifying what they can cite.

// Scope of the audit

What the audit checks

33 checks across four areas. Each check includes a short explanation of what it evaluates.

Access for search and AI

9 checks
  1. Page indexing Whether search engines can add your page to search results.
  2. Access for AI systems Access to your page for OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity crawlers; Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, CCBot, and Bytespider are checked only through robots.txt.
  3. Core content without JavaScript Assessment of whether AI systems can see the main page text before JavaScript runs.
  4. Secure HTTPS connection Site connection security and page access over HTTPS.
  5. Mobile usability Whether your page is easy to read on a phone and keeps all important content available.
  6. Markup for search systems We determine whether the page code explains its type and key facts to search and AI systems.
  7. Page listed in the sitemap The presence of a sitemap.xml — a list of pages for search engines — on your site with this address included.
  8. Content available without a gate Whether people can read the page immediately without accepting cookies or confirming their age or region.
  9. Server response time How quickly your server starts and finishes sending the page HTML to an AI system.

Technical page quality

8 checks
  1. Logical heading structure Clarity of your page’s structure through its headings.
  2. Real-world page speed How quickly and steadily the page loads for real visitors.
  3. Clear page address Whether someone can understand the page topic from its address.
  4. Ratings and reviews Whether the page has a rating or review signal that search systems can read.
  5. llms.txt for language models The presence of an llms.txt file — a short list of important pages for language models — on your site.
  6. Your organization details Evaluating whether search and AI systems can identify your brand and its official profiles.
  7. Navigation and language versions Clarity of the page’s place in the site structure and links between its language versions.
  8. Direct URL without extra hops Establishing whether your address leads straight to the final page.

Content quality for AI

11 checks
  1. Permission to quote page excerpts Whether the page allows search and AI systems to display excerpts from its text.
  2. Self-contained content sections How complete an answer each section gives outside the context of the whole page.
  3. Answers to key questions Assessment of whether readers can find answers to their main questions on the page.
  4. Natural question wording Whether the text contains phrases people use when asking AI systems.
  5. Complete topic coverage Coverage of the main topic and important related questions in the material.
  6. Scannable content formats Determining whether long-form text is supported by lists, tables, or a frequently asked questions section.
  7. Text descriptions for images How well search and AI systems understand the image content.
  8. Content accuracy and freshness When the page was last updated in a meaningful way.
  9. An opening with a direct answer Extent of the first paragraph’s suitability as a clear quote in an AI answer.
  10. Claims backed by sources We assess whether important claims are supported by reliable external sources.
  11. Links to related pages Links from the page to other useful material on your site.

Expertise and trust

5 checks
  1. A clearly identified author To what extent readers can identify who prepared the material and what supports that person’s expertise.
  2. Evidence from first-hand experience Evaluating whether the material includes your own observations, examples, and measurable results.
  3. Essential company information Whether visitors can find information about the company, its contacts, and how it handles personal data.
  4. Reviews with verifiable context The presence of reviews on the site with names, dates, and a clear source.
  5. Open company details We determine whether visitors can identify the company responsible for the site and contact it.

Instead of an unstructured list of issues, you get an order of actions: where to start and what is likely to matter most.

A PDF report

A ready document you can share with developers or management.

Plain-language explanations

Every abbreviation is explained. The audit should be clear to people outside SEO as well.

Scores by area

// FAQ

Questions and answers

How much does the audit cost?

The audit is free, and there is no charge for the report.

What do you need from me?

Only a public link to the page. We do not need access to the site, analytics, or admin panel.

How long does the check take?

The check itself takes up to 40 seconds. The report opens in the “GEO audit” section as soon as the check is complete.

Does the audit check one page or the whole site?

The audit is for a specific page. This makes the recommendations more precise because a home page, product page, and article have different requirements. You can run a separate audit yourself for each key page.

How is a GEO audit different from an SEO audit?

An SEO audit asks whether a search engine can find you. A GEO audit asks whether an AI system can read the page, understand it, and use it in an answer. Some checks overlap, but the focus is different.

Does the audit guarantee that AI will mention me?

No. The report identifies the technical and content issues that keep a page out of answers. Resolving them is necessary, but other factors also matter, including domain authority, mentions on other websites, and competition in your field.

What should I do with the report?

It makes sense to start with the critical blockers and then follow the priorities. Each check in the report already includes an explanation of what it evaluates, how it is checked, and what to change.

Can I check the page again after making changes?

Yes. You can repeat the audit and compare the score. VYDAI also has separate AI visibility monitoring to show whether brand mentions in ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude are increasing.
